WOO SEO BO is Bo Kim, an artist based in Los Angeles. They earned a BA in Asian American Studies and Media Arts from USC. They have contributed to VR and AI projects with institutions such as Amazon MGM Studios and the City of LA, and served as Getty Marrow Curatorial Intern with Hammer Museum, contributing to Made in LA 2023 and programming the academic symposium for Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s–1970s. 


This drew on Kim’s award-winning USC honors thesis documenting state-sponsored artists in North and South Korea, and how they navigated systems of censorship. 


This work helped develop Kim’s ongoing interest in how artists navigate legislative gaps and periods of divestment, leading to their current work as a compliance analyst interpreting federal labor policy for a municipal government agency, and as an intern with California Lawyers for the Arts, utilizing their background in arts administration to organize legal clinics for working artists, held directly in local arts spaces. 


They trace all these investments to an upbringing immersed in oral histories of fleeing martial law and training in folk dance, leading to their overarching passions for helping marginalized people navigate legal systems and the relationship between art and national identity.
